Police have released a CCTV image of 2 women they want to speak to after more than £260 worth of groceries were stolen from Tesco Extra in Ryde on Saturday (22nd August).
The shoplifting incident occurred at the supermarket on Brading Road at around 18:00, resulting in officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary issuing a public appeal.
Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying and assisting with enquiries about the 2 women who were seen inside the store at the time.
The first woman is described as white and aged in her early 40s, with blonde hair. She was wearing a denim jacket, glasses and white shorts with black stripes, and was carrying a black bag.
The second woman is described as white and aged in her late 20s or early 30s. She had blonde hair with brown roots and was wearing a blue crop top, black shorts and sunglasses.
Anyone who recognises the women pictured, or who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious, is being urged to contact police.

Police have reiterated that shoplifting will not be tolerated and are encouraging businesses to continue reporting incidents so officers can take action against offenders.

Completely incorrect, security are limited by company insurance. SIA officers can be licensed and trained to use handcuffs and arrest anyone on an indictable offence, to which shoplifting is. Problem is, the supermarkets don’t want to pay for the public liability insurance for things like wrongful arrests or injuries. The SIA regulates the training, of which is perfectly adequate. The supermarkets just need to pay the insurance to let the security actually do what they’re qualified to do! They want it both ways, security deterring, but not paying the insurance!

Surely Tesco have cctv in the carpark if not they have in store cameras they will be able tell what time these two arrived at the store and when they left so it will be easy to check anpr data for the time periods and get a list of car Regs then check with DVLA and go and knock on doors ..Simple !! or is it not the sort of thing our Police do these days ..??

If not using A.I. Robots shops need turnstiles like

why not just close all shops and do it all online, linked to our digital i.d. so we dont need cash or bank cards, then link it all to our social credit score to see if we are allowed to buy booze or meat this month
