A devastating fire has ripped through a terraced row of houses in Cowes overnight, with firefighters battling to bring the blaze under control.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has crews from Newport, Cowes, Ryde, Sandown and Freshwater on scene at Ronsons Close, off Love Lane, where a serious blaze has spread from one home to neighbouring properties.
Residents living in the area are advised to close their doors and windows as smoke billows into the sky.
It was just before 03:30 this morning (Friday) that a 999 call alerted fire control to the developing fire, prompting a significant response.
In total, 6 pumping appliances and an Aerial Ladder Platform are in attendance, alongside an Incident Command Support vehicle.
It’s thought that extra resources from the mainland are being mobilised to the Island to assist with fire cover.
It is currently unknown if any injuries have been sustained, but it is evident that at least 3 properties have been affected by smoke and fire damage.
