Island Echo has reached another major milestone with the publication of our 60,000th news article, just weeks after marking 14 years of serving the Isle of Wight community.
Since launching in May 2012, Island Echo has grown to become the Isle of Wight’s leading independent digital news publication, providing readers with around-the-clock coverage of breaking news, court cases, politics, community news, events and everything in between.
Throughout that time, one thing has remained unchanged – a commitment to keeping the Isle of Wight informed by publishing trusted local news free of charge.
Behind each of the 60,000 articles is a story that has mattered to the community, whether highlighting local achievements, holding organisations to account, reporting on major incidents or celebrating the people who make the Isle of Wight unique.
The milestone also reflects the support Island Echo continues to receive from its loyal readers, those who regularly submit news tips, photographs and videos, as well as the local businesses and organisations that advertise with the publication.
Darren Toogood, Founder and Editor of Island Echo, has said:
“When we launched Island Echo in 2012, we simply wanted to create a reliable source of local news that was freely available to everyone on the Isle of Wight. All these years later, reaching 60,000 published articles is something we’re incredibly proud of, but the number itself isn’t what matters most.
“What matters is that, every single day, we’re able to keep our community informed with accurate, independent journalism that people can trust. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our readers, contributors, advertisers and everyone who has played a part in our journey over the past 14 years.
“Thank you for continuing to make Island Echo part of your daily lives. We’re looking forward to bringing you the news that matters for many years to come.”

Well done Island Echo. Here’s to the next 60,000 articles
keep them coming.
Never mind “well done Dazza” -well done you for posting at least 180,000 and possibly 240,000 times for our reading delight.
