Newport IW FC have officially announced they will be ground-sharing with East Cowes Vics in the forthcoming 2023/24 season.
In a press release this afternoon, the County Town club have said:
“The club are pleased to announce that a ground-share proposal has been agreed with ourselves and East Cowes Vics, for us to play our home games at Beatrice Avenue next season.
“This is a massive boost to our dedicated team of players, managers and volunteers, all of whom give their time for free to support our club every year.
“First team manager Steve Brougham is really positive about the move and looking forward to the new season starting. He has also confirmed that Newport will have a reserve side next year, managed by Stu Shepherd, which is fantastic news for the club.
“All of us connected with Newport are looking forward and are ready to give our all again next season.
“Our support as fans remains as important as ever; let’s continue to get behind the team both home and away, and surround them with the positivity they deserve.”
On behalf of East Cowes Vics, Chairman Mark Greenslade has said:
‘’We couldn’t stand by and let Newport be forced to leave the Wessex League or worse fold prior to their new stadium being built, so we offered them an olive branch to ground share for the coming season 2023/24, which has been agreed.
“It has obvious benefits for Newport, but it also really helps us move some of our long term plans for improving all aspects of East Cowes Vics to a much sooner timescale.’’
UPDATE ON MONDAY – Since the publication of this article it has been confirmed that the agreement between the 2 clubs is ‘in principal’ only.

Isn’t it time someone provided some answers about the endlessly delayed new stadium?
What a farce, proof the new Race Course Roundabout debacle is not necessary as the chosen location when there is a perfectly decent ground in E Cowes. Suggest they resale and find somewhere nearer to Newport that won’t affect the traffic flow or cause accidents as the Race Course will definitely become a black spot. You don’t cut a main artery – better to find a less invasive route for Newport FC. Keep asking but now answers Why was St George’s Park given up?
