The Gordon Endler Memorial Ride is an annual motorbike charity ride held on the Isle of Wight, raising money for 2 local Air Ambulance charities (Hampshire & Isle of Wight and Dorset & Somerset).
This year the ride takes place this Saturday (1st July), meeting from 12:00 for a 12:30 departure as before, but it has a new start point at Newclose County Cricket Ground where the event will also finish. There will be an ice cream van attending the finish to make refreshments available.
The ride is held in memory of Gordon Endler, a popular local biker who died in a road traffic incident in July 2020. His partner, Jacqui Stannett, was on the back of the bike and survived thanks to the Air Ambulance lifting her direct to Southampton General Hospital.
This is the 4th time this ride has been held, and all previous rides have attracted over 100 bikes, many of which do not know the route. There is a team of volunteer marshals who will be holding traffic at junctions and traffic lights to keep the bikes together. The public are asked to be patient, with money being raised for a worthy charity and the riders will be out of the way as quickly as possible.
Bikers and non-bikers are all welcome to support the ride, with members of the public welcome to view the bikes at the start/finish. There will be volunteers from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance at the start point, and collection tins will be carried around the route, and you can meet the bikers when they take breaks at Freshwater Bay and Blackgang Viewpoint. Donations are not compulsory but will be gratefully received.
The ride will be led by Jacqui Stannett and Gordon’s son, Joe Endler, and is organised by Jon Flexi and Pippa Ellis of Solent 1990’s Sportsbikes.
The event organisers would like to thank Newclose County Cricket Ground for their support, and Blue Dot Printing of Portchester for supplying the hi-viz vests for the marshals. They’d also like to thank all the volunteer marshals and of course, the riders who have shown up and supported the event in previous years. They hope to see a good crowd again this year!

Motorbikes are so dangerous, let’s hope they ride sensibly.
So many Bikers have died on this Island over the years.
motorbikes are not dangerous its is the person riding it and the car drivers who dont know how to drive a car or look to see if the road is clear before they pull out
One or two have died on the mainland as well
This is a very worthwhile ‘ride out’ but it would be helpful if a brief route was mentioned in the article.
