The Hair Academy in Cowes has secured approval to deliver its own hairdressing apprenticeships, with all places for the first intake already filled.
The Hair Academy has reached a major milestone after gaining approval to deliver both Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing Apprenticeships directly from its salon and academy in Cowes.
The new arrangement means students can complete their entire training programme on the Isle of Wight while gaining practical experience in a working salon environment and building their own client base from the outset.
For more than 10 years, The Hair Academy has worked with external training providers to support apprentices. However, following challenges with third-party delivery models, the business has invested in creating its own training programme designed specifically around the needs of students, employers and the wider hairdressing industry.
Apprentices will work alongside experienced stylists and educators while serving real clients and developing the practical skills needed for long-term careers in the profession.
Demand for places has already proven strong, with all 4 apprenticeship positions available for the 2026/27 academic year now filled.
The Hair Academy currently employs 9 stylists, with the majority having started their careers as apprentices at the salon.
Charlotte Stephan, Educational Lead, said:
“For many years, we’ve been passionate about developing the next generation of hair professionals, but we’ve often felt restricted by training models that didn’t always put students first.
“Becoming a dedicated training provider means we can now deliver a truly student-focused programme in which apprentices receive consistent support, high-quality education, and genuine hands-on experience in a real salon environment.
“Our goal isn’t simply to help students achieve a qualification. We want to develop confident, skilled professionals who are ready to build successful careers in the hairdressing industry.
“We’re incredibly proud that all four places for our first intake have already been filled, which demonstrates the demand that exists for high-quality vocational training on the Isle of Wight.”
Alongside its role as a training provider, The Hair Academy continues to offer a full range of professional hairdressing services to clients from across the Island.
The business says support from customers plays an important role in helping apprentices gain valuable experience while working under close supervision.
Daniel Bailey, Managing Director, added:
“Every client who walks through our doors contributes to the development of future hair professionals. By supporting local businesses and local training, our clients are helping us create opportunities for young people and raise standards within the industry.
“We’re always delighted to welcome new clients to the salon and show them what makes The Hair Academy different.”
The Hair Academy is based at 9 Birmingham Road in Cowes and says further apprenticeship opportunities will be announced in future intakes.
