Chris Royl has claimed his 10th consecutive Senior Championship title during a busy few days of competition at Westridge Golf Club.
Royl was made to work for his latest title after Glen Winnard produced a superb opening day at the Senior Championships.
Winnard shot a 6-under-par net 58 to lead the Handicap competition and was also tied with Royl at the top of the Scratch standings, with both players carding rounds of 68 gross.
Steve Hull, Pete Holton and William Humphries followed in the Scratch competition on 76 gross.
In the Handicap competition, Winnard’s net 58 put him ahead of Holton on 61, while Hull headed a group of 4 players on 63.
Playing in the final group on day 2, Winnard was unable to match his opening-day performance, with a gross 81 allowing Royl to come through and secure his 10th consecutive Senior Championship with a 2-round total of 139.
Hull was the big mover on the second day, climbing to 2nd in the Scratch competition with an overall score of 148, ahead of Winnard on 149.
Hull also surged from 3rd to 1st in the Handicap competition, with a net 59 helping him to the title on 122.
Martyn Wakefield climbed 10 places to take 2nd on 127, edging Holton on countback, while reigning champion Jasmine Royl produced a strong defence of her title with a pair of net 64s to finish 4th on 128.
The August Shield followed on Sunday, with the first group out setting the early benchmark.
Bob Singh-Bansi and Jeffrey Foster combined for 73 points and remained out in front as the scores came in.
However, Jasmine and Chris Royl eventually matched their total, with a better back 9 seeing the pair clinch their first August Shield title together.
Melvyn Pratley and Steve Sansford finished 3rd with 71 points.
