Convicted sex offender Alan Wilson, who failed to disclose his new address to Police despite living there for 18-months, has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Wilson, 38, of High Street in Shanklin appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Tuesday) having previously admitted a single offence of failing to comply with the notifications of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 back in March.
Wilson was placed on the Sex Offenders Register back in 2019 when he was convicted for possession of indecent child images.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had previously told the court that on the 30th November 2024 it was discovered that Wilson was living at a different address to the one that he had previously registered with Police.
As a registered sex offender, Wilson has to disclose any new address he may reside at within 3 days of moving.
The court heard how Wilson had been living at the address for some 18-months, but failed to disclose it.
Defending Wilson, Jim Osborne, told the court that Wilson was remorseful. He added that he had initially forgotten to go to Newport Police Station and that the thought of heading to the station days late meant Wilson didnt’t bother.
Magistrates handed Wilson an 8-month prison sentence, suspended for 18-months. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £187 surcharge fee.

Me too Res, It’s almost as though there is some Government scheme saying the scum must not be upset, or someone high up protecting them, and why are these criminals being paid benefits no questions ever asked. Questions that need to be put to Parliament, but of course won’t be
