A child has been seriously injured after being hit by a van, which has led to Police cordoning off a residential street in Lake this evening (Thursday).
Investigations into the circumstances of the road traffic collision on Manor Road, involving a pedestrian and a black Renault Trafic van, are underway.
It was at around 18:30 that emergency services responded to the scene at the junction of Manor Road and Newport Road, not far from the Central convenience store.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service mobilised a number of resources to tend to the injured child, who has since been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
The extent of their injuries is currently unknown, with Police awaiting an update from doctors.
The severity of the situation has led to Police sealing off the street at both ends, as road policing officers conduct on scene investigations to piece togther the events that led to the pedestrian being struck.

Manor Road is expected to remain closed for the next few hours.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement, with further information expected on Friday morning.
