Three athletes from Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club have been representing club and country at major beach sprint and offshore events in recent weeks.
Bass Andre represented Great Britain at the European Championships in Portugal, heading into the competition as the reigning European champion.
Andre looked comfortable on the open sea despite challenging conditions and finished just outside the podium places in the single sculls, competing against some of the biggest names in offshore rowing.
Despite missing out on a medal, Andre was pleased to record a quicker time than last year and will now turn their attention to the World Championships in China later this year.
Frances Katirewa represented Wales at last weekend’s Home International Regatta in Scotland, where rough conditions forced organisers to reduce the racing programme.
Katirewa nevertheless secured a third-place finish in the mixed doubles event.
Meanwhile, Martha Eggleton faced tough competition at the English Beach Sprint Championships in Bournemouth.
Eggleton posted some strong times during the time trials in both the single and mixed double events, but was unable to progress to the knockout stages.
Racing up an age category in both events, the competition provided valuable experience for Eggleton ahead of next season.
