Osborne Golf Club’s Joy Jenkins has claimed this year’s Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association Veteran’s Trophy after coming out on top of a closely fought Stableford competition.
A total of 52 ladies took part in the competition at Osborne Golf Club last Monday (21st September), with players enjoying perfect conditions.
Jenkins secured the trophy with an impressive 41 points, although she faced close competition for the top spot.
Ryde’s Rose Green also recorded 41 points but narrowly missed out on countback, taking 2nd place, while Newport’s Elaine White finished 3rd, also with 41 points.
Osborne’s Mandy White took 4th place with 40 points, just ahead of Susan Becksmith of Shanklin and Sandown, who recorded 39 points.
There was further success for Shanklin and Sandown when Ruth Graves won the Over 75’s Trophy with 39 points.
Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association Captain Stephanie Hart presented the prizes alongside President Maggie Ankers.
