Pumpkin picking will return to the West Wight countryside next month, with Westover Farm Pumpkins opening its gates for a 4th year of autumn family fun – including new late-opening sessions.
Westover Farm’s pick-your-own pumpkin patch will open for the 2026 season on Saturday 3rd October, offering visitors the chance to choose from 20 varieties of pumpkins, squashes and gourds.
Despite challenging growing conditions this year, several acres of the farm have been filled with pumpkins in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours.
Visitors will be able to grab a wheelbarrow and explore the patch, which is set in the West Wight countryside with views across the Solent.
Alongside pumpkin picking, the Pumpkin Play Patch will return, as well as scarecrows and photo opportunities throughout the site.
Hot and cold refreshments will also be available, including hot chocolates, pumpkin spiced lattes and toasties.
New for this year are late-opening sessions on Saturday 3rd October and Saturday 10th October, when the patch will remain open until 19:00.
The extended opening will give visitors the chance to explore during the ‘golden hour’ and experience sunset at the patch.
Special Pumpkin Patch Playtime for Little Pumpkins sessions will also be held from 10:00-12:00 on Friday 9th October and Friday 16th October.
Aimed at youngsters aged from walking age to 5 years old, the sessions will include arts and crafts, time in the play area, a story and hot chocolate. These sessions must be booked in advance.
On the same Fridays, the main patch will open from 12:00-16:00 with fewer visitors, which organisers say may suit home-schoolers, toddlers and those who prefer smaller crowds.
The pumpkin patch will then open across selected weekends and dates during the half-term period, with the final day of the season falling on Saturday 31st October.
Entry to the pumpkin patch is free and no booking is required, except for the Little Pumpkins sessions.
Car parking, toilets, seating and refreshments are available on site, with both cash and card payments accepted.
Organisers have warned that the patch may have to close during bad weather, with any changes announced through its social media channels.
