A 26-year-old woman who thought moving a car from a driveway would be an ‘amusing prank’ has admitted a string of offences, including taking a vehicle without consent and making off without paying for fuel.
Billie-Joe Malston, 26, of Lea Road in Lake, admitted taking a motor vehicle without consent, making off without payment and 2x theft from a shop.
Prosecuting, Cristiane Finlay, told the court that on the 1st January 2026, Malston and a group of people moved a parked Citroen C2 from a driveway. The court heard how the incident was captured on CCTV and that forensic evidence linked Malston to the scene.
Later that month, on 11th January, Malston was passenger in a vehicle that entered Morrison’s Petrol Station in Lake. Having got out of the vehicle and fuelled it up, Malston and the driver made off without paying for the fuel.
The 26-year-old also admitted shoplifting from Co-op on 9th June and 15th June.
Defending Malston, Oscar Vincent said that his client thought that moving the vehicle would be an “amusing prank” and that the group had “ran away laughing”.
The case was adjourned until the 6th October where a pre-sentence report will be compiled.
