This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

- Lee Hayward, 49, of High Street, Ryde, was given a community order until 28 July 2027 after admitting failing to provide a blood specimen for analysis while being investigated on suspicion of drink or drug driving. He must complete 150 hours of unpaid work, was banned from driving for three years, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge. Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without insurance were dealt with at the same hearing.
- John Chessell, 53, of no fixed abode, Newport, was given a six-month conditional discharge after admitting possessing cannabis. He was ordered to pay a £26 surcharge, while the cannabis was forfeited and destroyed. No prosecution costs were awarded.
- Emma Stafford, 45, of Green Street, Ryde, was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after admitting burglary at Tower House Pharmacy, where 913 pregabalin tablets were stolen. She must complete up to 10 rehabilitation activity days, pay £240 compensation, and remain under supervision for 12 months. A cannabis possession offence was dealt with at the same hearing, with the drug forfeited and destroyed.
- Jamie Matlock, 45, of Langbridge, Newchurch, was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting two shop thefts from Tesco Express in Lake and being sentenced for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order. He was ordered to pay £30 compensation for one theft, while no compensation was ordered for the second because the stolen goods had been recovered.
- Alex Higgins, 67, of Moorgreen Road, Cowes, was fined £850 after being found guilty of drink-driving following a trial. He was also ordered to pay £650 prosecution costs and a £340 surcharge, and was banned from driving for 12 months. The disqualification can be reduced by three months if he completes an approved drink-drive rehabilitation course.
- Daniel Jeavons, 34, of St Pauls Crescent, Shanklin, was given a six-month conditional discharge after admitting resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty.
- Helen White, 56, of Slade Road, Ryde, was fined £120 after admitting assault by beating. She was also ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 prosecution costs and a £48 surcharge.
- Joshua Rousseau, 29, of Collards Close, Freshwater, was fined £40 after admitting being drunk and disorderly at the Isle of Wight Festival. He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.
- Timothy Young, 58, of Barton Road, Newport, was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after admitting two shop thefts and two breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order. He was ordered to pay £76 compensation for one theft and £103 for the other.
- Daniel Sweet, 35, of Newport Road, Sandown, was ordered to pay £30 compensation after admitting stealing laundry products and alcohol from B&M in Newport. At the same hearing, he was also ordered to pay £38.50 compensation after admitting stealing tools from Halfords in Newport.
- Travis Taylor, 22, of Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes, was fined £120 after admitting driving with a controlled drug above the legal limit. He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £48 surcharge, and was banned from driving for 12 months.
- Craig Sheriff, 40, of Barton Road, Newport, was jailed for 28 days after being found guilty of assaulting a police officer.
- Simon Flux, 44, of St Swithins Crescent, Bouldnor, was ordered to pay £916.21 compensation after admitting causing criminal damage to a Southern Vectis bus. No costs or surcharge were imposed because priority was given to compensation.
- Jade Goodall, 30, of Staplers Road, Newport, was given a community order after admitting assault by beating. She must complete up to 12 rehabilitation activity days, was fined £45, and was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 surcharge.
