A week-long exhibition bringing together work by 2 former art teachers from the Isle of Wight College has opened in Seaview – celebrating the coastal beauty of the Island.
Featuring sculptural ceramics by Wendy Hayden and and a body of artwork by Judith Sha’ath, ‘Time – Wind – Tide’ is showing at The Halland Gallery on the Seaview High Street.
Wendy and Judith taught together for 10 years in the art department at the Isle of Wight College in Newport.
Dozens of art lovers attended an opening night preview on Friday May 20th, with both artists in attendance to answer questions about the work.
Judith Sha’ath, artist said:
“We’ve had some great feedback and spent a lot of time talking to people who are really interested in the techniques we use and our collaboration.”
Wendy Hayden, sculptural ceramicist said:
“It’s been really busy, lots of people have been really excited, with some lovely comments and just really fun.”
“There’s a common thread that follows through the work – a real interest in observation and it’s rooted on the coast and the beaches and that joy of finding things and being able to look closely.”
The Halland Gallery is a seasonal art and studio space on the Seaview High Street run by Island-based photographer Christopher Jelf.
The show runs from Saturday 20th to Wednesday 31st May, opening at 10:30 and closing at 17:30.

As dull as they look
Agreed. All the “art” looks pretty dull too. Like it has just been dug up from the beach.
