UPDATED: Police in London are appealing for the public’s help to find a vulnerable missing Island man who was last seen on the Victoria Line underground in London.
59-year-old Douglas Cameron from Cowes hasn’t been seen since yesterday afternoon when he was parted from his carer, prompting fears for his welfare.
Officers in London have established that Douglas had travelled on the Victoria Line and was at Brixton underground station, standing on the northbound platform, at 13:23 yesterday. Prior to that he had previously been sighted at around 12:30 at Oxford Circus station when he boarded a train towards Walthamstow Central. At around 12:45 he boarded a southbound train toward Brixton.
Douglas suffers from autism and has learning difficulties – he has never gone missing before. He is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark grey top, brown/grey trouser and black trainers.
Douglas was in possession of a red rucksack, small blue holdall and black coat; Douglas also uses two hearing aids. He has no money, phone or travel card and would not be able to make his way home.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: The family of Douglas have confirmed that he has been found safe and well more than 48 hours after going missing.
The family would like to pass on their thanks to all of those who shared the appeal.
