Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s was subjected to racial abuse inside McDonald’s in Newport last night (Thursday).
The incident is reported to have happened at around 18:00 inside the fast food restaurant on St James Street.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says the man was allegedly racially abused by a woman, and officers are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Anyone who was in McDonald’s at the time and saw or heard what happened is urged to contact police.

Automatically deciding that a racist incident did occur is a very dangerous assumption.We just need to look at the latest history of our wonderful Police farce, especially in light of their constant over reaction of ‘WORDS’.. and in light of the horrific incident in Pompey, to have learned to be VERY careful throwing words around. I would also be interested in how many officers arrived at McDonalds in order to investigate and make an arrest in this matter, perhaps someone could enlighten us on the way this is being dealt with. For instance, is this treated as serious as an assault, or a burglary, or a theft, or the usual ‘flood the area with coppers, push a few folk around and refuse to talk to the public’ type of incident.
