Volunteers are being sought to join the operational team at Isle of Wight Search and Rescue (WightSAR), helping to find vulnerable missing people during incidents across the Isle of Wight.
WightSAR is recruiting new Search Technicians who will be trained to take part in active callouts, with the voluntary organisation ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Licensed Search Technicians work on the ground during searches and are directly involved in efforts to locate and rescue vulnerable missing people.
The team also provides specialist assistance and support to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and other agencies during incidents.
No previous search and rescue experience is required, with full training provided to successful applicants who demonstrate a strong team ethic and willingness to learn.
Those joining the team will need to be prepared for a demanding role, operating outdoors in all weather conditions and responding during both the day and night.
Applications for the latest recruitment intake close on Thursday (15th October), ahead of WightSAR’s ‘Safe to Search’ foundation training course beginning in January 2027.
