A 14-year-old boy has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following the alleged assault of a 74-year-old pensioner in the grounds of Northwood House in Cowes earlier this year.
The teenager, who Police say is from Cowes but cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Youth Court on 12th August.
The charge relates to an incident that took place at around 15:00 on Wednesday 25th March, when the victim of the alleged assault was walking his 2 retriever dogs through the grounds of Northwood House.
It was previously reported that the incident occurred after the teenager was seen vandalising a nearby war memorial, leading to an altercation between the pair.
The victim suffered bruising to his ribs but did not require hospital treatment and recovered at home.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson has now confirmed:
“A 14-year-old boy, from Cowes, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
“He is due to appear at Isle of Wight Youth Court on 12th August.”

Just name him. If he’s old enough to do this then he’s old enough to be named and he will carry on doing so under the cloak of anonymity until people know who he is. But whoever he is I fear this won’t be his last mention in the islandecho.
