Lucy Burke has been crowned Ladies’ Club Champion at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club after edging out Dawn Hodge by a single shot over 2 gruelling rounds played in scorching conditions.
The Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club Ladies’ Championships took place on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July, with the exceptionally hot weather providing a stern test for competitors across both days.
After 2 closely contested rounds, Burke secured the Ladies’ Club Championship and the Scratch Salver with a gross score of 166. Dawn Hodge finished just 1 shot behind on 167, while Beverley Whorwood claimed 3rd place with a gross score of 174.
Penny Last picked up the Gallop Cup on the opening day after returning a nett 70. Ronnie Hirst finished runner-up on 73, with Dawn Hodge taking 3rd place on 76.

In the Bronze Championship, Lorrie Hawkins produced an outstanding performance to win the Berry Salver with a gross score of 190. Gail Boyer finished runner-up on 199, with Sarah Nye 3rd on 201.
Hawkins also claimed the Handicap Cup after recording an impressive nett score of 140 over the 2 rounds. Boyer finished 2nd on 147, while Nye took 3rd place with 149.
Completing a memorable Championships, Hawkins also lifted the Harrison Trophy on the opening day with 43 points, ahead of Sarah Nye on 38 and Julie Miller on 36.
