People Matter IW, the popular Island social care focussed charity, has announced new plans for its future direction following a strategic refocus. The charity’s Trustees decided last autumn that it would not seek to pursue further funding from the Isle of Wight Council for its previous User Led Organisation activities upon the expiration of the current contract at the end of March 2024. This decision will allow the organisation to focus on its Personal Assistant Recruitment and Employment Service – ‘PARES’ as the engine for its future along with specialist work for adults with a learning disability, autistic people and adults with ADHD. People Matter IW’s Manager, Terri Baker, said:
“Although our funding model will change, People Matter IW will continue to provide reliable advice and a highly professional, quality service to those in need of support on the Island.”

Who don’t have ADHD, it is like having Tattoo’s or Vaping thesedays.
Oh dear Trevor showing your age with that comment. “” back in my day”
years ago they cured attention deficit and hyperactivity with an open handed slap across the chops -that sure focused your attention and calmed you down in class. It is the lack of fear of consequences which has meant kids are unruly and take no notice. Rather than realise that the issue can be corrected by discipline, they justify the poor behaviour by giving it a medical name and then medicating the kids
Good. Charity should be just that. A choice made by individuals NOT our council tax funding any nere do wells , as our taxes already keep them from cradle to grave and often every clone they will breed in between the two events as well.
It does appear there’s a load of money available for the like on benefits or disability…..
Why are some people so cruel to people who are disabled? Try living in my shoes for a day with multiple sclerosis. Pain, paralysis, fatigue, depression. Money helps me with transport, medical supplies not available on NHS, etc etc.
