The occupants of a car which overturned near Ashey last night (Tuesday) fled the scene on foot, Police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to Carters Road, Ryde at 21:38 following reports of a single-vehicle collision, as first reported by Island Echo.
A silver Honda Civic had left the carriageway and crashed into a hedge, overturning in the process. The vehicle ended up on its roof.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that those inside the vehicle left the scene before emergency services arrived.
However, officers located the occupants shortly afterwards on nearby Ashey Road.
Police say the driver will be interviewed at a later date. No arrests have been made at this stage.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting reference 44260310941.
