A car has left the road and ended up on its roof in a late night crash on the outskirts of Ryde.
It was shortly before 22:00 tonight (Tuesday) that Police were called to Carters Road, near Ashey, to reports of a car having rolled onto its roof.
The incident has occurred around a third of the way between Smallbrook Roundabout and Upton Roundabout, with a road closure now in place.
It is not thought that any other vehicles have been involved.
Police are conducting enquiries nearby.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Police have confirmed that the crash involved a silver Honda Civic.
The occupants fled the scene, but were located nearby.

So I have seen over the years the disintegration thats occurring. Alleged crime??? Wake up you NUMPTY, ypu are the exact type of half wit the dicks making the decisions love.
20mph is fine if ypu are retarded, which popular belief has that you are.
Its a proven fact that most rollovers are not the result of high speed you more likely to roll at low speed, clip the kerb at 25mph and its likely to launch you over hit it at 50 and your more likely to stay upright.
As has been said before if your not comfortable driving at more than 20mph (and god forbid you ever drive on the continent) maybe its time you surrendered you licence & took to the bus, although they do more than 20.
