Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has retained her place among the country’s leading junior archers after producing another impressive performance at the third stage of the Junior Archery Series in Oxfordshire.
The teenager travelled to Wallingford Archery Club on Saturday 13th June to compete in Stage 3 of the national series, where she finished 2nd in the qualification round with an impressive score of 598.
Following qualification, 15-year-old Chambers progressed to the head-to-head matches, where she overcame Amber Bishop in her opening contest before being beaten 7-3 by Meredith Burton in the next round.
Despite missing out on a deeper run in the knockout stages, Chambers said she was pleased with both her qualification score and her overall performance.
Summer has said:
“I was delighted to finish in 2nd place with a score of 598. I’m incredibly happy with that score and pleased with how I shot throughout the round. It was great to see all the hard work and practice paying off.
“Although the head-to-heads didn’t go quite the way I had hoped, I’m really proud of my qualification score and overall performance. Every competition is a chance to learn, gain experience, and continue improving.”
She also thanked Wallingford Archery Club for hosting the event and said she is already looking forward to the next stage of the Junior Archery Series.
The latest Junior Archery Series standings show Chambers has accumulated 906 points across the opening 3 rounds of the competition, placing her 6th overall in the Recurve Under 18 Women category. She has scored 283 points at York, 295 at Deer Park and 328 at Wallingford.
Chambers previously finished 5th in the standings after the opening 2 rounds and remains firmly in contention with further stages of the series still to come.
