Isle of Wight rock band The Optimists have captured the essence of unexpected summer love with their newest song First Time Again, the group’s first single in almost a year.
Available to stream now, the track encapsulates the feeling of being an adolescent with seasonal freedom, and is the first release featuring the band’s newest member, Isaac ‘Waz’ Wells, who has taken over bass duties from Henry Bolton.
Speaking about the new single, frontman Matt Read said:
“First Time Again is about ‘taking the leap’ to do something you haven’t done in a very long time. For me, it was going on a date, and this song came very quickly from that night.”
Already this year, The Optimists have performed in London, supported American Pie star Thomas Nicholas and played a show with a Blur tribute act.
In a solo performance, Matt took to the stage at Strings Bar and Venue in Newport to support Billy Bibby, a former member of Welsh rock band Catfish And The Bottlemen.
Later this year, they will return to London for a show organised by Hot Vox, and will also appear in Bournemouth in October.
