A Motorcycle accident caused the temporary closure of Sandown Road this afternoon (Saturday) as emergency services rushed to the scene.
The incident, which occurred at around 15:30 near Bembridge Airport, involved a red motorcycle.
Police closed the road from Bembridge Airport and the roundabout connecting Yaverland Road to Sandown Road for a short period; however, it has since reopened.
Southern Vectis have reported that their Route 8, The Downs Breezer and Island Coaster services are back up and running to the timetabled route.
It is currently unclear whether any other vehicles were involved in the incident, as well as the condition of the rider.
Island Echo has contacted Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for a statement.
UPDATE @ 17:15 – A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has commented:
“We were called at 15:24 to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a motorbike on Sandown Road, Bembridge.
