Prolific thief Daniel Kilshaw has been handed a 6-month prison sentence after committing further offences less than 24 hours after being given a slap on the wrist by Magistrates. The 42-year-old has featured on Island Echo numerous times in recent years for a string of offences, from dangerous driving to theft. It was in September 2022 that Kilshaw was handed an 18-month sentence for stealing a car and crashing it into a wall in Ryde. That incident occurred just days after Kilshaw was handed a 26-week prison sentence – suspended for 12 months – for stealing £345 worth of clothing from TK Maxx. More recently, he was handed an 18-month community order for 4 counts of theft from TK Maxx, Sports Direct and the Co-Op. Now, Kilshaw is back behind bars after admitting to stealing prescription drugs from a pharmacy in Ventnor during the early hours of last Friday morning. It was last Monday (15th April) that Kilshaw stole £300 of items from Sainsbury’s in Newport. But when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Thursday, he was given a 2-year conditional discharge for his latest offence – despite his extensive criminal record. Within 24 hours, Kilshaw went on to commit a further offence in his home town of Ventnor by breaking into Jhoots Pharmacy on Albert Street after smashing a window. Kilshaw appeared before Magistrates again yesterday (Wednesday) where he was handed an immediate 6-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to burglary. Island Echo has reported on several of Kilshaw’s court appearances including 7 counts of theft and possession of a knife in October 2020, possession of 13 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine in December 2021, plus an appearance in March 2022 when he caused criminal damage to Sandham House in Sandown. In June 2022, Kilshaw stole £600 worth of goods from Sports Direct in Newport. A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Retail workers are part of the community, and repeat offenders in particular create an environment of fear for many staff members, leaving them to feel unsafe in their own workplace. This is not acceptable, and police have been making efforts to prosecute those who make the lives of businesses and residents a misery, whilst also working closely with partners – such as drug & alcohol support services like Inclusion – to rehabilitate criminals and break patterns of offending. “We continue to urge anyone with information about retail crime to report this to police. You can call us on 101, or use the report tool at https://orlo.uk/HYoqp. If a crime is in progress, dial 999″.
Unfortunately, due to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s rules, we cannot publish a custody photo of Daniel Kilshaw as he was not jailed for more than 12 months. However, you can see his mug shot from our previous article below. https://www.islandecho.co.uk/face-of-prolific-criminal-finally-revealed-as-kilshaw-sentenced-to-18-months-over-dangerous-driving/
