Police are investigating an incident involving a ‘dangerous dog’ after a woman reported that she had been bitten whilst walking in Ryde earlier this week. A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“We have received a report a woman was bitten by a dog at approximately 13:00 on Thursday 18th April.” “It was reported the dog had bitten the woman, in her 30s, on her leg as she was walking along Spencer Road. “She sustained minor injuries as a result. An investigation into this incident is underway and our inquiries are ongoing.”

Force it to wear an electric shock collar and if that reminder doesn’t work then fit one on the dog too
Too many thick, or deliberately wanting to own a viscous dog now. They should suffer more than the pet.
Semi-runny dogs would have a difficult time biting anyone, let alone wearing a collar.
The Law desperately needs to be changed, anyone can own a dog that is treated like a weapon. Especially the chav community, but our corrupt governments of all colours will do nothing about it….knifes are one thing, but dogs are just has dangerous with lowlife owners…..All a dog needs, is the basics of love, exercising, good food and a loving home…
‘Viscous’ dogs are some of the worst type, especially on this island, one minute you think they are going to be a solid and the next minute a liquid….they never make up their minds, always somewhere in between!!
The owner should be banned for life to every own, or walk a dog again. For if ‘just’ banned, they will say they are taking it out for a friend.
It bit not attacked and minor injuries could mean not even broken skin. Cat’s can do worse and sure many people have experience of cat bite and scratches.
There’s often the time I wish cat owners would take responsibility to muzzle & glove their huge ‘viscous’ cats who continually pounce on unsuspecting walkers
Cats tend to bite or scratch when mishandled by idiots or treated poorly by said idiots.
They don’t randomly attack humans.
Dogs can and will go looking to attack.
Live stock, small children other animals/pets.
Dog should be destroyed. If you disagree, ask yourself: would I be happy if that dog fastend its teeth around my child or grand child’s throat?
There you have it.
Stop making excuses.
No species of animal goes looking to attack, normally only in circumstances of fear or provocation.
Dogs as with cats will attack livestock simply because they are natural born hunters.
As always it’s down to the owners to be aware of their pets natural behaviour, and act accordingly and in a responsible manner.
You may have noticed common sense and respect has long since disappeared for a minority of the general public.
When I see a headline that reads “child savaged to death by pet cat”, you may have a point.
I do enjoy cheese, sometimes I wonder whether English brie can actually be called brie at all, it has a somewhat tangy taste, less creamy than its french cousin, perhaps the definition of brie is based on production process, who am I to judge?
That’s what the dog said.
Before everyone is quick to judge, to blame the dog or owners let it be investigated properly.
And huge assumptions”Inbeed in Islanders DNA never ask assume”of type of dog it could be any type from a jack Russell to a Labrador!
From what I see nowdays, many dog owners should be kept on a
Lead.
From what I see nowadays many irresponsible disrespectful reprobates should be kept on a lead.
No he’s right dogs should be on a lead not everyone likes dogs
Not everyone likes kids, should be kept on leads and not allowed on beaches.
Dog licenses £500 a year per dog and mandatory training.
Agree. I only want to be bitten by a dog whose owner can afford to pay up!
Shut up Jed
Yes, but how would you enforce it?
We don’t have police on the streets as it is, so where are all these officers going to come from to check on dog licences?
Minor injuries and the police are continuing their investigations – what an utter waste of resources when they complain they are too stretched to actually investigate crime. What will the next headline be? “Police Seek Gust of Wind That Blew off Man’s Hat” – its pathetic
Something seems a bit sniffy. It’s immediately branded as a ‘dangerous dog’, even though the breed of dog hasn’t been disclosed and there was no report of the dog’s owner on the scene. If the dog was a stray, they’re normally on a mission patrolling what they consider to be their patch, sniffing out scents and leaving their own. Unless someone intervenes and interrupts his duties, he has no reason to launch himself at passer-by’s. Strays mainly avoid human contact on the streets, which is why they are happy to trot out on his own… Unless of course, the woman wanted to borrow his dust pan & brush and didn’t ask first. 😉
