Peter Greenhalgh and Jake Rigby, who recently took over The Sun Inn at Calbourne, are now also the new landlords of The Kings Head in Yarmouth.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the pair took over The Sun Inn at Calbourne in May and they have now expanded their horizons to another West Wight pub.
Jake explains:
“After 4 months of work at The Sun we were presented the opportunity to take over The Kings Head in Yarmouth and we’ve never been the type to shy away from a challenge or opportunity. The Sun gave us a new found love for the West of the Island and the Kings Head allows us to jump in head first to the area.”
“We have sourced a fantastic passionate new chef and we are all very excited to launch a new menu along with a diverse selection of guest ales. The Kings Head also boasts the only pool table in the area and is the best spot to enjoy pub favourites and a new range of chef specialties.”
“In keeping with tradition The Kings Head benefits from a wonderfully rustic atmosphere, a light and breezy dining space and a log fire for the colder seasons. It’s an ideal destination for Islanders or holiday makers alike”
The move adds another string to the bow of the increasingly experienced duo. Pete started as a glass collector at the legendary Folly Inn and then went on to manage 1000-capacity nightclubs and beach bars in Brighton for 16 years. Briefly returning in 2015 and working doors in Ryde, Pete came to meet Jake and they have remained in contact ever since.
Jake started glass collecting in Coburgs before moving to the bar and has since worked in and run various places around Ryde. He also worked as a doorman for a year and spent 7 years in the care sector looking after vulnerable adults with learning difficulties.

Good luck to them, good to see local people having a go and hope locals support them, best of luck lads
Good luck in a very tough industry.. but don’t the weatsheaf around the corner have a pool table? Good ales on tap too
No pool table in the Sheaf anymore, it’s not the look they want just over the top drink prices and mediocre food.
The CHOYD has pool and snooker tables and beer is half the price PLUS it benefits the community so drink there folks.
The only fans guy
The places he can hide a banana, unbelievable!
Dose that bloke on the left always pull that silly pose?
He does but doesn’t realise that crossed arms is strong body language that signals someone who is distant, insecure, defensive, or anxious. Poor chap needs an arm around him.
Mate, if I had biceps like that I wouldn’t ever do anything but pose like that!
They look like a lovely couple and I wish them every success.
