An Island teenager is set to cut her hair and donate it to a charity that helps provide bespoke wigs for children who have lost their own hair.
18-year-old Natasha Lord from Niton will be cutting 14 inches of her 26-inch long hair on Wednesday (12th April), all in aid of The Little Princess Trust.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.
Currently studying history at the University of Exeter, Natasha has long wanted to cut her hair and donate it to charity and has finally plucked up the courage to do so, with the scissors to come out when she is back home from Uni next week.
Natasha had originally hoped to raise £200 but thanks to the generosity of family, friends and the general public she has raised over £600 so far with that total set to rise before next Wednesday. Once the hair has been cut it will be sent via post to The Little Princess Trust HQ in Hereford.
Ahead of the big cut, Natasha has said:
“Anyone who knows me knows that I love my 26-inch long hair, but I’ve decided to cut a whole 14 inches off to give to a little boy or girl to love just as much as me.
“It would be incredible to raise enough money to help cover the cost of creating the high-quality wigs.”
Anyone who would like to donate to the cause can do so here.
