Forensic investigators are continuing their painstaking examination of the scene of a fatal stabbing in Sandown this afternoon (Thursday), carrying out a fingertip search as the murder investigation progresses.
Specialist Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCOs), dressed in white forensic suits, have remained at the property in Downsview throughout the day, carefully examining the suspected murder scene following the death of a man in his 50s on Thursday evening.
Emergency services, including the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, responded to an incident shortly before 19:00 after reports that a man had suffered serious injuries.
Despite the efforts of responders, the victim died shortly after arriving at St Mary’s Hospital.
A methodical search over the past few hours has seen investigators from the mainland comb the entirety of the property, paying particular attention to a bedroom, gathering any potential evidence that could assist detectives leading the murder investigation.
Police cordons remain in place around 79 Downsview, with officers maintaining a visible presence in the residential area.
A 14-year-old boy and a 47-year-old woman have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and wounding with intent.
Police continue to question the pair in custody at Newport Police Station.
