Wight Ices, who have been chiming their way around the Isle of Wight in their growing fleet of ice cream vans, have now secured their 1st permanent site – a pitch down at Western Gardens in Ryde.
An ice cream van will be located on the green – opposite the bottom of Union Street – daily from 11:00 to 19:00, starting from this Saturday (1st April).
They will be serving Cornish ice cream, hot puddings, ice cold slush, hot and cold drinks and various ice lollies.
The news comes just a week after securing a new van in the fleet, marking continued expansion for the family-run ice cream business.

I bet all the kiosk owners and shop keepers are over the moon ,paying huge rents, and business rates , just to have your trade taken by a bloody ice cream van !
And selling Cornish ice cream!
May as well have left café there rather than flatten it
All very healthy stuff.
Most food establishments seem to employ
smokers and vapers who stand outside puffing away,
hardly an inviting welcome for customers.
I wonder how many of them clean their hands before serving
Customers.
Much cheaper to pop in a shop and buy a box of 4 magnums for £3
Than pay £3 each
Top tip Gordon. Thanks for your sage advice. My top tip is that it is much cheaper to stay at home on the mainland and watch an episode of “A New Life in the Sun” rather than actually going to the Isle of Wight for a holiday. I take many trips like this each week. I also like to take a packed lunch and sit outside an expensive restaurant eating it. I feel like a millionaire but I’ve hardly spent anything.
Another fascinating read. Thanks IE.
In other exciting news. I just saw that black cat in my garden again. It tried to do its business but I scared it off. You need to get up pretty early in the morning to beat me Mr Cat.
So they’re proposing to make it a law to have to turn the engine off while waiting at a level crossing for less than five minutes but having an engine of an ice cream van running for eight hours is fine. Yuck.
