Last weekend over 50 much loved and highly polished classic cars assembled on The Parade in Cowes, where nearly 1,000 visitors were able to inspect them and quiz their owners about their history.
With additional attractions including historic motorboats and yachts, a fly-past of a WW2 bi-plane and themed live music, Cowes Classics Day is now pulling on the crowds from both the Island and the mainland.
Over 250 people voted for their favourite classic car in The People’s Choice award and the winner was David Rose with his Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupe in British Racing Green. The runners-up were Keith Buckett with his Austin Somerset Convertible (second) and David Kidd with his 1933 Rolls Royce (3rd).
The Most Original Entry award was presented to Peter Morton, who exhibited his Vauxhall 30-98 OE, while Keith Buckett’s Austin 7 Swallow picked up the Most Eclectic Entry award.
Cowes Classics Day is kindly supported by Cowes Town Council.

One article that abused Island women have lost their charity funding; the next article about rich men’s toy’s! Hey ho….
Sad times…
It was nice to visit this event and enjoyed chatting to the classic and vintage car owners. I hope there will be more such events on the island, it’s great for both residents and visitors – it certainly got me out and about. It’s lovely along the Cowes seafront and the eclectic shops nearby are charming.
Many thanks to whoever organised it.
