Award-winning chef Matthew Tomkinson of The Hambrough in Ventnor has made the official Coronation Quiche, as well as his own alternative, to rave reviews from the local Mayor this week.
Tomkinson, who is a former winner of the prestigious Roux Scholarship as well as having 14 years of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, has already secured 2 AA rosettes and an entry into the 2022 Michelin Guide for The Hambrough, placing it firmly on the Island’s culinary map.
On Wednesday (3rd May), Ventnor Town Mayor Steph Toogood was lucky enough to try his 2 quiches and was delighted with the results.
She said:
“The Coronation Quiche is on trend, light and fresh tasting. Very Flavoursome and versatile. Elevated, delicate but robust flavours.”
The Coronation Quiche – consisting of spinach, broad beans and fresh tarragon – was chosen by the new King and Queen to mark their Coronation and, with such a positive review from Ventnor’s Mayor, it is to be hoped that it becomes as much of a classic as the Coronation Chicken chosen to mark the late Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne in 1953.

Not my king. They stole our land!
We are in a dictator ship ruled by religion and unelected idiots.
Protesters being arrested in London just for showing up in a t-shirt with ‘not my king’ on it. Now illegal to even think about locking anything to street furniture. So when you lock your bike up to a railing or bike stand, you’re breaking the law!!
So what was in his alternative and what did it taste like?
