Leading superyacht training centre and youth Charity, UKSA has joined forces with Nautilus International, the union for maritime professionals.
Nautilus International is the leading professional trade union organisation for maritime professional in the British, Dutch and Swiss shipping industries. The Union has over 22,000 members, who work within the global maritime industry.
Cowes-based UKSA is one of the world’s leading RYA and MCA training centres. With a strong ethos of student welfare, UKSA prides itself on the pastoral care afforded to all learners who use their educational facilities.
Nautilus focus on excellent advice and ongoing support for superyacht crew, their commitment to integrity mirrors UKSA’s own approach.
The new partnership will look to protect all Professional Yacht Training students, including the intake of 30 Cadets each year on to UKSA’s flagship course the ‘Professional Yacht Cadetship’, RYA Yachtmaster students and Interior training students. In the last 10 years alone 1,947 people have completed these courses before embarking on a career within the maritime industry.
All of UKSA’s professional training courses have been designed to offer the skills and qualifications needed for a career in the maritime industry with a focus on the superyacht sector.

This unique partnership will allow students to receive expert guidance on all aspects of their employment, as well as legal protection wherever they are in the world. In addition, Nautilus will be delivering regular workshops onsite at UKSA for any professional yacht-training students to attend as well as scheduled drop in sessions for students with any questions.

From March 2016 every PYC Cadet and Professional Yacht student leaving UKSA will have access to all of the independent, impartial advice and assistance Nautilus International’s services provide which includes a year of full legal support.”
UKSA are the only training provider to include membership in course fees thereby ensuring that our students are safe and supported on their entry into the industry. UKSA will work with Nautilus to encourage UKSA students to take up the offer of trainee membership fees. The partnership recognises the benefits that can be derived from the relationship through a shared vision for the success of international yachting through industry leading welfare standards.
