Multi award winning poet and performer Luke Wright, cult comedians Rob Auton and Jessica Fostekew and the Parisian trained Rhum and Clay Theatre are among just a few highlights in the Ventnor Exchange’s new season.
Having just celebrated its third birthday the Ventnor Exchange, formed by the team behind the award winning Ventnor Fringe Festival, has firmly established itself on the map as the best place on the Island to see professional new theatre, as well as a unique space to spend an evening, with a craft beer bar, record store and wide range of workshops and events.
Artistic Director Jack Whitewood said:
“We’ve been gradually developing a name for our programme of new work, not just locally but further afield too and we’re now attracting some of the brightest new talent from the worlds of poetry, comedy, puppetry and theatre.
“It’s really exciting to see happen and as with the Fringe all of the artists love visiting the Island. In 2018 we’ll be inviting more artists to perform than ever before and our aim really is to bring cultural experiences to more people and use this as a catalyst for wider change”.
Other events to look out for in the coming months include a transfer from London of ‘Carry On Jaywick’ a verbatim play that looks at the lives of rural, coastal Essex, and Taffy Thomas MBE, the former storytelling laureate.
