Jill Prouten has won this year’s Lady Captain’s Trophy at Westridge Golf Club after a strong 2-day Stableford performance.
After a blustery week, calmer conditions greeted the Westridge ladies for the 18-hole competition, played over Saturday and Sunday.
Prouten led after the opening day with 19 points, giving her a 2-point advantage. Margaret Abbott held 2nd place from Shelagh Merrifield by virtue of a better last 6 holes, with both players on 17 points.
Conditions improved further on Sunday, with the competition still wide open. Claire Matejowsky produced the round of the weekend, scoring 21 points to finish on 35 overall.
However, Prouten added 18 points to her first-round score to finish on 37 points, securing the title by 2 points. Merrifield held on to 3rd place, also finishing on 35 points.
