Sandown residents are being invited to have their say on how the Town Council should use its resources in 2027/28, with priorities ranging from regeneration and beach safety to parks, community events and support for vulnerable people.
Sandown Town Council says its budget is about more than paying for individual services, describing it as one of the ways it looks after the town, supports community life and invests in Sandown’s future.
Through its latest budget consultation, the Council wants to understand what residents believe should be protected and improved, where future investment should be focused and where different choices could be made.
Residents are being asked for their views on regeneration, parks and open spaces, beach safety and accessibility, environmental improvements, community events, local grants and support for vulnerable residents.
The consultation also asks people to consider wider challenges and opportunities facing Sandown, including neglected areas, the seafront, community activities and places valued by residents and visitors.
Councillor Alex Lightfoot, Mayor of Sandown, has said:
“People care deeply about Sandown and want to see the town and its communities thrive. This consultation gives residents a meaningful opportunity to tell us what matters most to them and where they believe the Council should focus its resources.”
The Council says understanding local priorities will help it make informed and transparent spending decisions that reflect the needs, ambitions and wellbeing of the town.
Councillor Lightfoot added:
“The choices we make about the budget will help shape Sandown’s future. By taking part, residents can help us make those choices openly and build a budget that reflects the priorities of our community.”
Hard copies of the consultation will be available from the Broadway Centre and Sandown Library from 6th October.
Posters are also being displayed around Sandown carrying a QR code linking to the survey.
The consultation can also be completed online here.
