Ryde resident Steve Deacon has secured an impressive third-place finish at the PCA Hampshire bodybuilding competition after turning years of doubt into motivation for success.
The 30-year-old says he was always the smallest child at school and first discovered his passion for bodybuilding after watching videos of his favourite athletes on YouTube.
Before dedicating himself to bodybuilding, Steve played football for Bournemouth FC until the age of 16. However, he says he was told he was too small to continue – a setback that inspired him to prove his doubters wrong. Bodybuilding has since become a huge part of his life.
Competing in the novice category at PCA Hampshire, held at Princes Hall in Aldershot, Steve achieved a third-place finish against competitors from across the UK.
PCA is considered one of the country’s leading bodybuilding organisations, staging elite events nationwide.
Steve Deacon has said:
“Bodybuilding is now my life and I love and breathe it every day.
“I wanted to prove everyone wrong and show what can be achieved through hard work and dedication.”
Following his success at PCA Hampshire, Steve is now aiming to step up into the open class division and compete abroad against more experienced athletes.
