A 47-year-old man with an extensive criminal record has pleaded guilty to stealing over £400 worth of food from Morrisons.
Kevin Greenwood of Milligan House, Ryde, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday) where he pleaded guilty to theft from a shop.
The court heard that Greenwod attended Morrisons in Neport on 5th Feburaury where he stole £406.91 worth of food items.
He had placed all the items in a shopping trolley, walking past security then out of the store.
Defending, Oscar Vincent told the magistrates how his client had commited the offence on the third anniversary of his father’s death, which was a trigger to his relapse.
Mr Vincent deatiled that his client has been diagnosed with complex PTSD, emotional disregulation, depression, ADHD, and suffers from substance misuse.
Magistrates heard how Greenwood has a lengthy shoplifting record mounting to 56 convictions for 102 offences.
The bench ordered a pre sentence report to be compiled with Greenwood next due in court for sentencing on 21st August.
