Young Isle of Wight athlete Harriet Willows has booked her place at the Schools National Finals after producing an outstanding performance at the Wessex Schools qualifying event in Bournemouth.
The 13-year-old, from Cowes, competed against athletes representing 25 schools from across the South Coast at Kings Park Stadium.
Harriet delivered a personal best performance in the 200m, clocking an impressive 27.24 seconds – a time that met the national qualifying standard.
After dominating her heat, she went on to finish 2nd in a highly competitive final to secure her place at the national championships.
Harriet also claimed victory in the High Jump competition with a clearance of 1.40m, meaning she has qualified for the Schools National Finals in both the 200m and High Jump.
The prestigious event will take place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on 1st July, where Harriet will have the opportunity to compete against some of the country’s leading school-age athletes.
