A single pumping appliance from Newport was also sent to the scene but they have already stood down.
Traffic heading past the scene of the collision is building in both directions.
UPDATE @ 15:10 – Senior paramedics that had been called to the scene have already stood down.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – Police have confirmed that 2 people reported minor injuries and a single person – the motorcyclist – suffered a serious injury.

Surely not due to speeding on the cameraless
Military Road!
Time to implement some traffic rules
Speed limit on such roads should be 40mph
Rest of the island 20mph it saves lives and reduces
pollution.
Nowhere does it say that speed was a factor.
Maybe this accident wasn’t, but believe me if you
sit along the Military Road and watch the
Motorbikes that go along this road like lunatics.
It is shocking and something needs to be done about it.
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
And what about the car drivers that pull out in front of motorbikes..oblivious to even seeing them.. plus those car drivers that are staring out to the sea, whilst cruising along at 36 mph over the white lines…
If road users would only LOOK down and up the road, twice before pulling out..STOP… LOOK… LISTEN..
Speed limit on military road is fine as it is. It’s the dangerous drivers that are the issue. Your obsession as with so many others that it’s down to speed is an ignorant way of thinking, prime example is Germany, higher speeds than we have yet less accidents. We just have more twots on the road. Also, 20mph doesn’t reduce pollution, it actually increases it because cars aren’t mechanically meant to drive at a consistent 20mph, with higher revvs comes not only more fuel usage but also more pollution and furthermore as we’ve seen by the statistics released in areas that’s trialed this scheme, it slows traffic down into a bottle neck causing more congestion which causes more pollution and more dangerous driving and road rage because 20mph is too slow. Might as well bring the horses back out at that point as you’d be getting across the island faster, but then you’d be complaining about the horse poo everywhere!
I have to drive in London every week and you’re right about 20 zones causing road rage and frustration. 20 would be bad enough, but you then get idiots like Enumpty is Enumpty priggishly crawling at 15, terrified of being done and staring at the speedo instead of the road. He will kill his new diesel car by driving like that; the DPF and EGR valve will be wrecked in short order with his 20’s plenty nonsense.
20mph saves lives.
Well said
Germans know how to drive, islanders don’t.
Vorsprung durch Techniq
Stop w***ing off, parasite
You are still takking to yourself
Bless you
On numerous occasions I have seen how fast
Motorcyclists ride along the Military Road and even though
it is an accident hot spot for bikes they still speed.
“PEOPLE THINK IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO THEM, UNTIL
IT DOES”
It is time the authorities to place an unmarked vehicle along this
dangerous road and see for themselves.
A marked vehicle won’t achieve anything it will make
Motorcyclists and motorists slow down.
UNMARKED VEHICLES WITH CAMERAS ATTACHED WOULD
HAVE A FIELD DAY, IT WOULD HIGHLIGHT HOW DANGEROUS
AND LAWLESS THE MILITARY ROAD IS!
I drive the Military Road most days. The two biggest causes of danger are people dawdling along at 35-40mph on a road with a 60mph speed limit because they are looking at the scenery and not driving with due care and attention. They should stop at one of the many places it is possible to safely and lawfully do so and admire the scenery from there. The second risk factor comes from the people who pull out of side turnings or car parks onto a 60mph road then accelerate very slowly and forcing those they have pulled out in front of to slow down significantly rather than seeking to accelerate to the traffic speed causing the least disruption to other road users going lawfully about their business.
Police say 60mph is not a target, also there are a lot of variables on that road, lycra formations being one !
Speeding kills, people seem to think that the
Military Road is a motorway and drive way over the
limit, such a road should be 40mph max.
The slower the speed if an accident does take place
more chance of living.
It was pointed out recently that more people die
each year by traffic accidents than knife crime in Hampshire
I can well believe that.
Slow down, personally the authorities have their part to
play in all these accidents because they have no safety
measures in place.
They rely on people, and people break the law.
Cameras all the way along the Military Road and max speed
of 40mph
Utter nonsense, people simply need to wake up and be far more considerate of other road users, the road discipline on the island is dreadful, so many blinkered drivers, personally if I’m overtaken by a faster driver or rider, good luck to them.
However I think the time is well overdue for the idiots with loud exhausts to be charged and given large fines & people with exhaust diverters should have their vehicles impounded & scrapped.
complete rubbish…learn to drive…obey the highway code…
Ditto
Most people know exactly what the risks are when they ride a motorbike, especially a fast one. Since you think you know the way they think i assume you ride a fast motorbike and are talking from experience, or are you guessing and talking out of your backside?
I do believe he has a Master’s Degree in talking out of his backside!
Better than having a Master’s Degree for being a
Numpty
Are you not dead yet? You must lead a very fulling life seeing as you are always on here commenting on stuff you know nothing about
If they want to kill themselves because they think
they are going to be the next Evel Knievel let them
BUT NOT BY PUTTING OTHER PEOPLES LIVES AT RISK!
WHO DRIVE SENSIBLY
It’s the only outlet he has
You need to get a life 20 mph is ridiculous you don’t know if speed was a factor, most cars driving along that road are not looking where they are going. I hope the motorcyclist is ok and the car driver is too
20mph saves lives ask Sir Sadiq Khan
Nurse!! More medication!
Oh Matron, stop messing about!
20mph is coming, get ready for it, it’s great and
challenging.
More bad driving on the Iow
One day the island authorities will have the balls to
place speed cameras islandwide
The island needs a Mayor like Sir Sadiq Khan
he puts cameras on top of cameras to STOP numpties
speeding and it does STOP numpties speeding.
What’s the rush, enjoy the scenery.
Speeding in London. Hahahahahaha
20mph makes London a safe place for motorists
Oh well, who cares. Oh wait one,.no one… increase speed limits to 80 and let’s get rid of more people hahah.
You can go to Switzerland for that.
