Inconsistent Cowes Sports knocked 5 goals past United Services Portsmouth at Westwood Park while East Cowes Vics lost to 9-man Folland Sports at Beatrice Avenue.
YACHTSMEN SINK UNITED SERVICES POMPEY
Cowes Sports lost their last Wessex Premier fixture 5-1 away to Portland United; this Saturday, they had a comfortable 5-1 home win.
After a slow start to the game, the Yachtsmen took the lead through a George Colson free kick in the 22nd minute (1-0).
But the goal was answered almost immediately by the away side with Arnold Ibo providing the equaliser for US Pompey (1-1).
Cowes Sports were on top in the period before the half time break with Connor Kelly shooting narrowly wide, and Colson having a couple of shots stopped by the opposition keeper.
However, the on form George Carter-Knight restored the Yachtsmen’s lead before the interval with a sublime shot into the bottom corner of the goal (2-1).

It took until the 67th minute for Cowes to further increase their lead when Connor Kelly picked up a long ball before beating a defender and shooting past the US Pompey keeper (3-1).
7 minutes from full time, Kelly bagged his brace after being set up by Liam Triggs (4-1).
Jez Conway provided the icing on the cake for the Yachtsmen in the 6th minute of injury time by knocking in a 5th goal for the home side (5-1)

VICS VANQUISHED BY 9-MAN FOLLANDS
The game began with goalkeeper Owen Denness and midfielder Harri Catania making their home debuts in the starting lineup for Vics this season.
Vics played well in the 1st half, but lacked the finishing touch in the final third of the field.
The East Cowes side had plenty of opportunities: Neale had a good attempt on goal that stung the Folland keeper’s hands; a free kick found Nash in the penalty area, but he headed at the keeper; Newbold had a chance to head Vics into the lead, but his effort found the Folland keeper rather than the target.
The Beatrice Avenue boys were unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty when a Ji Nash attempt on goal hit the hand of a defender but play was waved on.
The game was then held up for 15 minutes after the ball struck a spectator.
After the delay, Nash had a further opportunity give the home side the lead after beating a defender through his pace but blasted the ball at the Folland keeper. Newbold had another chance to give Vics a goal advantage before the half time break but misdirected his header.
Half time: East Cowes Vics 0-0 Folland Sports
Vics finally scored in the 48th minute when Jacob Reynolds smashed a Ted Mumford through ball into the left corner of the goal (1-0).
However, the Planemakers equalised in the 65th through a headed goal from a corner (1-1).
The East Cowes side then found themselves playing against 10 men from the 67th minute after the 1st of 2 red cards given to the visitors. Jacob Reynolds was unlucky not to restore the home team’s lead when his curling effort hit the crossbar. Reynolds then had a penalty appeal ignored by the referee.
Despite being a man short, Folland took the lead for the first time in the game (1-2). The away side then suffered a 2nd sending off for what appeared to have been a head butt.
Aedan Coode equalised for Vics with 5 minutes of full time remaining (2-2). Coode then came close to winning the game with a strong shot that was well saved by the Folland keeper.
But victory wasn’t to be for the Beatrice Avenue boys with 9-man Folland scoring a very late goal after a poor back pass fell to a Folland striker, who then curled the ball into the back of the net to ensure the Planemakers took all 3 points home across the Solent (2-3).
