The annual Gordon Endler Memorial will return this coming weekend with an expanded 2-day programme, featuring its traditional charity motorcycle ride on Saturday and, for the first time, a family-friendly show at Sandown Airport on Sunday.
The event raises money for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and was established in memory of well-known Isle of Wight biker Gordon Endler, who died in a road traffic collision in July 2020. His partner, Jacqui Stannett, who was travelling as a pillion passenger, survived thanks to the swift response of the Air Ambulance crew, who flew her to Southampton General Hospital.
The memorial ride will set off from Sandown Airport at 12:00 on Saturday (4th July). Organisers are asking motorists to be patient as the motorcycle convoy passes around the Isle of Wight, with volunteer marshals temporarily holding traffic at junctions, roundabouts and traffic lights to keep the group together safely.
More than 100 motorcycles are expected to take part, including riders travelling from the mainland, with organisers stressing that any delays will be kept to a minimum.
An evening party will follow at Sandown Airport from 16:00, with weekend camping also available.
Sunday’s event, running from 11:00 until 16:00, marks a new addition to the Gordon Endler Memorial and is aimed at both bikers and the wider community.
Visitors can enjoy trade stalls, children’s entertainment, displays by Ability Dogs 4 Young People, motorcycle trials demonstrations and the popular moped jousting tournament, alongside a host of other attractions.
