An investigation into an accident at Lynnbottom Tip last September, which saw a worker crushed, is not being taken any further by the Health and Safety Executive, it has been confirmed to Island Echo. It was on the morning of 11th September that the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled to the household waste and recycling centre at Downend. As first reported by Island Echo, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was alerted to a male sustaining a crush injury at just before 07:45 in the morning – thought to involve a piece of machinery whilst a worker was ‘making an adjustment’. A paramedic crew, an enhanced care paramedic and an operational commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were all deployed to the scene, with the casualty eventually flown by the air ambulance directly to the Major Trauma Unit at Southampton General Hospital. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed at the time that it had been informed of the incident and was investigating the circumstances. Now, it has been concluded that no material breaches of health and safety law have been identified by HSE and therefore no further action is being taken. A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive told Island Echo on 13th March:
“HSE made initial enquiries into this incident but decided against any further action as no material breaches of health and safety law were identified”.

HSE are a bunch of office bunnies.
Big brown envelope then from the council to get this stopped then.
Could be that the employee was incompetent
Yes he was probably making an adjustment while inside the crusher.
Now the cynic in me wonders if no further action was taken AFTER a no-fault compensatory payment was offered and BEFORE any material breaches of H&S law were identified.
The realist in me suggests that you should stop making stuff up just to stir the trolls into a frenzy.
The word Dakar in previous statement should have read, DAAAAH!
