The Freshwater community came together in an extraordinary display of solidarity and support at the Freshwater Memorial Hall last Friday (22nd March), hosting an event that was both a celebration of local talent and a fundraiser for the much-anticipated Freshwater Skatepark. The evening featured the thrilling adventure film “Savage Waters,” captivating the audience with tales of daring and exploration. Adding to the ambiance, local teenage sensation Martha Eggleton and friends and the renowned rock band Hashtag performed, filling the hall with vibrant music and energy. The event also saw a raffle and an online auction with prizes generously donated by local businesses, showcasing the strong community spirit and support for the skatepark project. Through ticket sales, raffles, and auctions, £2,000 was raised for the skatepark, marking a significant step forward in bringing the project to life. The Freshwater Parish Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, participants, and especially our major sponsors Camp Bestival, Slow Motion Sauna, Eddie’s Surf Academy, Bird & Wolf, LJT Jewellery, Rapanui, Wight Trash, Canopy Skate Park, Sugar & Spice Lingerie, Mermaid Gin, JRZone and West Wight Sports Centre for their generosity and support.

Well done, £2,000 raised.
Just another £248,000 to raise for this noisy unwanted anti social behaviour attracting structure.
Did you want a quiet retirement? I hear the Antarctic is great for those with no soul or empathy! And you wonder why the kids take the mickey out of residents? But then you were never young and if you were you were “a good boy or I got thrashes” rose coloured glasses are wonderful but the really obscure the view!.
What over-hyped bull shit! Freshwater residents are not keen or supportive of this massive waste of money in appeasement of the feral youth.
They would rather not have the blight of vandalism, noise, and antisocial behaviour this will bring.
In these cash strapped times, why are we giving so much to these ungrateful precious little darlings, roads falling to pieces, services cut for the people actually paying exorbitant council tax etc. What a disgusting waste.
So hate me, you will only validate my comment.
It’s because most of the people who make the decisions don’t come from working families of lower class backgrounds.
So they wrongly assume that if they’give ‘ bored naughty children something to do , then they will be less likely to do bad things.
That may work with normal children but feral universal credit funded feral trash are above such and are into sex drugs alcohol stealing joy riding etc. So this is NOTHING to such vandals compared
Nice effort from those involved for at least trying to provide things for the local children to do. It will be a shame that the current local yobs like the mercer’s-dent’s-alex etc who weekly vandalise and disrespect local adults and other children will undoubtedly do their best to vandalised it or practise their arsonist skills! It is long over due that their faces have not been published and posted all over the West Wight so everyone local then knows who to keep a close eye on. Good luck with this local area for the kids, I hope those feral few are keeped away!
