Engineers have been inspecting the Shanklin lift today (Monday) after a technical fault forced the Isle of Wight Council to close the popular attraction last week.
The lift, which links Shanklin town with the seafront, has remained out of service since the fault was identified on Friday.
The Isle of Wight Council says engineers are carrying out a full assessment of the lift and, where possible, will restore it to operation.
A further update is expected once the inspection has been completed and more information is available.
The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked residents and visitors for their patience and understanding while the fault is investigated.
Taking to Facebook, the Isle of Wight Council said:
“We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available following the inspection.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.”
