This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

- Lee Price, 41, of Parkhurst Road, Newport – admitted stealing £107 worth of fragrances from Sports Direct in Newport on 12th June. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £107 compensation.
- James Caston, 37, of Alexandra Lane, Newport – admitted drink-driving on Medina Way, Newport, on 12th July. He was found to have 84 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Caston was fined £392, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £157 surcharge, and disqualified from driving for 22 months, which can be reduced by 22 weeks on completion of a course. He also admitted driving the vehicle without a valid MOT certificate, for which he was sentenced at the same time.
- Annabel Brown, 32, of Hill Lane, Freshwater – admitted 3 shop thefts from January. She stole £45.55 worth of food from Tesco in Freshwater on 11th January, £37.10 worth of steaks and beer with another person from Sainsbury’s in Freshwater on 12th January, and £50.40 worth of food from Tesco on 30th January. Brown was made subject to a community order running until 17th August 2027, with up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay compensation of £45.55, £18.55 and £50.40 respectively.
- David Clark, 42, of HMP Isle of Wight, Newport – admitted possessing an unauthorised Apple mobile phone inside HMP Isle of Wight on 19th November 2024. He was jailed for 12 months, consecutive to a sentence imposed at Newcastle upon Tyne Crown Court in November 2022. The mobile phone was confiscated.
- Parisha Valjee, 55, of Oakfield Road, East Cowes – admitted drink-driving on Kite Hill, Wootton, on 25th July 2025. She was found to have 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Valjee was fined £200, ordered to pay £150 costs and an £80 surcharge, and disqualified from driving for 48 months.
- Kevin Greenwood, 47, of West Street, Ryde – admitted stealing £406.91 worth of groceries from Morrisons in Newport on 5th February. He was made subject to a community order, including a 6-month electronically monitored curfew requiring him to remain at his home between midnight and midday each day, and was ordered to pay £406.91 compensation.
- Daniel Ford, 40, of Beadmans Grove, Newport – admitted assaulting a woman by beating her in Cowes on or around 13th July 2024. He was made subject to a community order running until 20th August 2028, including up to 35 days of rehabilitation activity and 150 hours of unpaid work. Ford was ordered to pay £100 costs and a £114 surcharge. A restraining order, lasting until 20th August 2028, prohibits him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly.
- Gemma Case, 49, of Hogan Road, Newport – admitted assault by beating a woman at Church Litten, Newport, on 9th August 2025. She was made subject to a community order running until 17th August 2027, including up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity. Case was fined £40 and ordered to pay £300 costs.
- Lee Price, 41, of Parkhurst Road, Newport – admitted stealing £160 worth of laundry products from Home Bargains in Newport on 8th June. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £160 compensation.
- Dominic Fuller, 39, of Springfield Road, Chelmsford – admitted assaulting an officer while the officer was carrying out his duties in Bembridge on 11th July. Fuller was fined £143 and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
- Drew Whittaker, 24, of Fort Street, Sandown – admitted burgling the restricted till area of Family Shopper in Newport on 6th June and stealing vape liquid and a lighter worth £12.98. He was ordered to pay £12.98 compensation.
- Julian Scott, 54, of Melville Road, Sandown – admitted damaging a mobile phone belonging a woman in Ventnor on 6th April. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge. Scott was also made subject to a restraining order until 17th August 2027, prohibiting him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly and from entering Danesbury House in St Boniface Road, Ventnor.
- Malcolm Berry, 64, of Lower Woodside Road, Wootton – was found guilty of using a handheld mobile phone while driving on Coppins Bridge, Newport, on 3rd May 2025. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £350 costs and a £48 surcharge, and had 6 penalty points added to his driving record.
- Harry Franks, 26, of Oakbury Road, London – admitted drink-driving on Monkton Street, Ryde, on 12th July. He was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Franks was fined £1,220, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £488 surcharge, and disqualified from driving for 18 months, which can be reduced by 18 weeks on completion of a course.
- Wesley Hughes, 35, of Arundel Close, Ryde – admitted failing to surrender to Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 14th April after having been released on bail. He was fined £307 and ordered to pay a £120 surcharge.
