A 37-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Ryde Marina.
Island Echo revealed in December 2025 that Police had launched an investigation into alleged employee fraud at the marina, which is operated by Ryde Town Council. The probe is understood to relate to thousands of pounds of public money, in the region of £60,000.
A recent Ryde Town Council officer report states that alleged financial irregularities were discovered at the marina in October 2025.
The report says there were “clear financial procedures in place to protect the council’s funds”, with training for relevant staff having been refreshed in April 2025.
Despite these measures, the report claims a breach of process occurred and fraud was committed.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the man has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
