As part of fashion retailer Fat Face’s Black Friday offering, they chose to donate to charity through their ‘Thanks for giving’ campaign. Fat Face’s Cowes store selected Cowes based UKSA as their charity.
The company’s incentive for the campaign came from a desire to support local charities by turning their Black Friday discounting into something more positive before Christmas. Under the initiative, 10% of Fat Face’s net profits were donated to local charities.
As one of the 221 stores in the UK, Fat Face’s Cowes manager Rob Flux chose UKSA. On the selection he explained:
“We were delighted to be able to support UKSA during FatFace’s ‘Thanks for Giving’ initiative in November. We chose to support UKSA because they are a local charity doing amazing work and share similar values to FatFace. We are pleased that the money raised will go to changing more young people’s lives in a positive way.”
To date over £900 has been raised for the Youth Charity who believe in the power of sea to act as a catalyst for change. UKSA’s centre in Cowes provides a unique environment and transformational opportunities for everyone, focusing on both work skills and life skills to the 9,000 young people who are welcomed through the doors every year.
Emma James, Head of Fundraising for UKSA explained:
“We were really proud to be selected as Fat Face Cowes’s chosen charity. The money raised will ensure more young people are able to come to UKSA and experience on-the-water activities to develop their confidence and self-esteem; skills that they will be able to take back and use in their daily lives.”
The campaign took place between Thursday 26th and Monday 30th November 2015 across all Fat Face stores and at fatface.com.
